On Thursday, April 17th, the streets in downtown Chico is closed again. Its not a big car accident nor any of that sorts. Its the annual event that starts from April till the raining season in September. Every Thursday, Broadway and Main Street is closed in downtown Chico and is open for local farmers and businesses to promote their products and services. These include: fruits, strawberry, flowers, mushroom, apples, nectarine, pomegranate and other various local grown fruits. The local business include: Mexican food, Pizza and specialized drinks. There is also local talents that trying to gain audience. These include music, dance, magic, and yoyo performers.
What make the local Chico folks stop by the Thursday Farmers Market is the fresh fruits and vegetables selling at cheap price. I remind those that do not follow my blog. My in-laws has a little farm which they grow varieties of flowers, strawberry, lettuce and bocktroy. These crops are freshly pick in the morning that Thursday before is it sent to the market at 6 PM. The flowers that is sold by my in-law is super cheap going at $5 per bundle. As for lettuce and bocktroy, its only $1 per bundle. Both freshness and price beats all the grocery markets in town.

All sorts of age group show up for the event. I can honestly say almost everyone was eating something off their hand that was sold in the market. The local Mexican food sold there makes it worth the time. The burrito with different types of meat goes for only $3 dollars and the tamale with different types of meat goes for only $2. If you like to spice up your dinner, I would recommend stopping by the market on every Thursday.
Beside from filling yourself with food, the entertainments available will fill your soul and heart. One block has a quiartar player with exotic drums. In the intersection is an hourly show. This spot is usually schedule for 2 event per week and it is always a surprise. On the other end of downtown is the central park which was newly reconstructed last year. Next to the park is a huge air bubble side for kids. Last time I check though, there was not age limit! I would recommend anyone in Chico to spend 2 hours of their time in downtown Chico. It is definitely worth it.
